Proposed End of KS1 and 2 Test Papers – 2016
The Department for Education have published proposed national test papers for the end of KS1 (Year 2) and KS2 (Year 6), which reflect the New National Curriculum. These show the type of questions that the children will be asked to answer from Summer 2016 onwards.
The standards in the new National Curriculum are higher than those in the old curriculum and the children will no longer be assessed against the old ‘levels’. At the time of writing, the DfE have not clarified how the children’s standards are to be assessed, but we do know that there are age related statements which the children have to reach in order to be of the expected standard.
Below are links to the proposed test content for reading, writing and maths in KS1; reading, writing maths and science in KS2. These are not the actual tests, as the actual tests will change year on year, but they will give you an idea of the increased standards that the Government is requiring of our children.
Please do click on each link, have a look at them and try them out yourself.
You will notice the high standard of knowledge as well as skill which is required of the children, and will appreciate that we need to work even more closely in partnership with you in order to support the children in reaching theses new standards.
If you need any more information to help you support your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school to arrange a convenient appointment.
