Intent

At Christopher Rawlins we want children to be develop an interest in and thirst for learning other languages. We aim to introduce the learning of the French language and the understanding of its culture in enjoyable and stimulating ways. We aim to laying the foundations for future language learning by embedding the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing. By fostering their curiosity and providing them with an opening to other cultures, we deepen their understanding of the world and prepare them for their future lives within our multicultural society with the valuable skill to be able to communicate effectively with others in another language.

Characteristics of a Linguist:

• Can understand. communicate and respond to spoken and written language.
• Can speak with confidence, fluency and a good level of pronunciation
• Has a strong awareness of the culture of the countries where the language is spoken.
• Has the ability to use language creatively and spontaneously.
