PTFA Burns Night 2014
Christopher Rawlins PTFA Burns Night
24th January 14
St Andrews flag flew high in the Institute as 80 tartan clad villagers flocked to the institute. Welcomed with traditional pipe music and a drink, the evening got off to a promising start. Once everyone was seated, the Haggis was piped in and ‘addressed’ and everyone enjoyed the traditional fayre of a Burns night. We all learnt a lot about the womanising ways of Robbie Burns and listened to samples of his writing as Jeremy Finch toasted the bard. Frank McCusker’s toast to the lassies raised a few eye brows and knowing laughs, but as always, the lassies had the last word – and very eloquently said it was, by Sophie Arber. The tables were cleared and the dancing was excellently called by Jo Howard. As everyone formed a big circle and sang Auld Lang Syne it was evident a good night had been had by all.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped in preparation for the evening and on the night, it wouldn’t have worked without you. And a bigger thank you to all the guests, between us we raised a fantastic £1200 for the school.
